Strict URLs in EE 1.6.5

Oct 09, 2008

Ellis Lab announced today that they are releasing a 1.6.5 update to ExpressionEngine that will include a feature originally slated to be in EE 2.0: Strict URLs.

What's this mean for you?

It means that ExpressionEngine will be smarter about not presenting the same content at two different URIs on your site. Duplicate content can mean search engines will penalize you (because they think you're trying to game the system). Because of this EE will also be more traditional in delivering 404 errors when the URI does not exist.

Be sure to read the entire blog entry from Leslie at Ellis Lab. He explains it clearly and concisely. It's a small change, but one that is very welcome.
