ExpressionEngine 2.0 Delayed
Sep 08, 2008
If you follow the ExpressionEngine blog or twitter account, you probably already know that the much anticipated major new version of EE is delayed. Originally, Ellis Lab wanted to ship it sometime this Summer, but it didn't happen. But not for a lack of effort.
The whole team at Ellis Lab has been working hard to get the new version out and they just need a little more time to make sure all of the loose ends are tied up. You can't blame them, can you? Not me. Just like I only ship clients the best site possible, I don't expect Ellis Lab to deliver a half-way done CMS.
The thing is, EE 1.6.x is a solid CMS and nothing to complain about. There isn't anything wrong with continuing to use it to develop high quality client or personal sites. EE 2.0 will be here soon enough but we're lucky enough to already have a great CMS with which to work.
So, if you have a project that needs to be done now, do it now.
